The house is located in a Galway suburb. Our client had a determined singular vision of a home that represented their lifestyle. It was a vision free of superfluous detail; that took advantage of the sites natural orientation and topography. Entrusted with realising this vision, we developed a split level house that capitalises on the sites topography and sea views. In plan the house has a square footprint which develops three dimensionally into a crisp white cube.

This robust form has recesses carved out to maximise the south facing views over Galway Bay and the Clare Hills and bring direct sunlight into the north facing. Care has been taken to make this house as efficient as possible in terms of its energy use. Openings have been placed to maximise solar gain, as well as to allow natural cross ventilation for cooling on warmer days. Due to its compact form, high levels of insulation and air-tightness as well as the use of a geothermal heating installation, the house has achieved an A rating from the SEAI.
