43 bedroom Convent with communal ancillary rooms

A completed 2 and 3 storey building comprising of 43 assisted living, single bedrooms with communal ancillary facilities designed on a compact floor plate with short travel distances from bedrooms to the communal areas. The building mass was designed to work with the site’s topography by stepping the building as the site is sloping southwards and as a result breaking the overall building mass and minimising ground works such as excavations and filling. The main accommodation block has east and west facing bedrooms whereas the main communal areas where the residents are most likely to spend most of their day, such as the dining room, community/TV room, multi-function room and the art room are south facing and thus maximising daylight levels into those rooms throughout the year. The main concept behind the landscape design is to create a park type landscape design that will integrate best with the existing setting, winding paths and green areas dominating.
