New Apart-Hotel and restaurant into existing disused church.

The site is located on the grounds of the existing Church. The proposal included a new building for an Apart-Hotel with 40no.suites, a commercial kitchen and ancillary accommodation to the North West of the existing Church along with the conversion of the existing church into a Restaurant. Due to the prominent location and strong presence of the existing church, particular regard has been given to the location and massing of the new building and its relationship with the church so that the special character of the Church is respected and that the new building is harmoniously integrated within the Church’s setting. The central design concept of our proposal was to create a direct visual relationship between the new building and the Church. As a result the main feature of the new building is proposed to be a full height atrium that will function as the foyer/reception area for the Hotel and the main access into the foyer to be located adjacent to the church tower so that a full height view of the Church Tower is framed within the hotel foyer.
