MAYOConversion of existing building into 4, one bedroom apartments The completed development consisted of the subdivision of an existing single dwelling(formally an RIC Barracks) into four new one bedroom apartments that also included the construction of a rear extension, replacement of an existing flat roof with a slated pitched roof and the demolition of existing outbuilding to be replaced with garages. Although not a protected structure, the building makes a significant contribution to the streetscape and retains some interesting architectural features such as the main entrance door case, the inverted bell cast eaves and the natural slate roof which were all retained and enhanced through repair/restoration work adding a strong visual sense of unity to the completed building. |
