MIXED USE DEVELOPMENT

ACHILL, CO. MAYO

Mixed development including a nightclub, bar, restaurant, hostel and retail units over an existing Underground Car-Park.

Our task was to design a building over an existing, partially constructed basement level. The site is located in the centre of a small village on the Achill Island.  Due to the extent of the accommodation and variety of uses to be incorporated in the new building the main concept was to break the building volume into smaller blocks that would all link back into a communal central building creating small pockets of public space between them to respond to the central village location with appropriate buildings scale, form and external finishes.
